David Saul, British Rowing Medal of Merit Winner

We’ve had a hugely proud moment here at Leeds Rowing Club, with a fantastic evening of achievement at the British Rowing Awards.

The annual awards celebrate our sports volunteers and club athletes and this year we were nominated in one category, Club of the Year; as well as seeing one of our Junior Academy Coaches, Alex Wilkins, winning the national Rising Star of the Year Award for his coaching with the University of Leeds BC, Leeds RC and Bedford School BC.

While we didn’t win the Club of the Year award, we were delighted to find that our Club Chairman and Director of Rowing, David Saul, had been awarded the British Rowing Medal of Merit. The Medal of Merit is one of the most prestigious awards British Rowing bestows and is awarded to individuals who have dedicated exceptional service to the sport.

We are hugely proud as a club that David has got the recognition he deserves and want to thank him for all that he has done to make Leeds Rowing Club the club it is today as well as all of his dedication to developing the wider sport in Leeds.
