A record Henley Womens Regatta

Henley Womens Regatta is always the high point of the regatta season for our women’s squad and this year has been no exception.

This year we sent a record four crews to Henley Women’s Regatta covering all sweep boat classes and ranging from Development to Championship level, our largest ever squad entry.

The following crews were entered:

Development Coxed Fours (Frank V Harry Cup), Aisha (cox), Niamh, Anne-Mairead, Lucy and Henrietta

Aspirational Coxless Fours (The Lester Trophy), Sarah, Philly, Kirstie, Rose (steering)

Aspirational Club Eights (The Copas Cup), Matt (cox), Mimi, Georgina, Rebecca, Holly, Amy, Susie, Emily, Anita

Championship Pairs (The Redgrave Challenge Vase), Ellen, Charlotte (Molesey BC).

Our Development Coxed Four and Aspirational Coxless Four faced two very tough time trials, both with very large entries and fell short of the final 16. Our Aspirational Club Eight qualified and went onto race Agecroft in the heats and our Championship Pair also qualified and went onto race Thames in the heats.

This year was extra special for the club, not only in being able to take such a large squad of athletes, but also in taking - and qualifying - an eight for the first time ever, and having a pair compete and qualify in the Championship event.

A huge thanks go to all of the supporters who came along for the three days of the regatta to cheer on and help the crews, to the coaches for all of their hard work and encouragement over the season, to Cross Keys Garage Morley for their continued support of rowing at Leeds, and finally to our amazing women for the hard work, dedication and sacrifice made this season to reach this event and make it a historic one for Leeds Rowing Club.
